I'm almost jealous of you. I know that in Finland, is a knight of butterflies, but I have not ever seen.

Good shot Ruthie, but with observation (hope you don't mind). The sharpness seems a bit much (especially looking at the flower), and the color saturation a little heavy... and here's why. This isn't to complain about your shooting... Notice the background "Bokeh" (as in background blur) isn't real eye-pleasing, but that's characteristic of your camera and you can't fix it. But maybe less in the camera settings might calm the blotchy look a little bit. I know you might love the camera you have, but I think you're better than it's giving you. jmho.

@dang: I appreciate your feedback and I do see what you mean. I do not blame my camera. I overdid it with the processing I think. I am an amateur photographer and am trying to learn how to set the camera properly. Also I know nothing about processing photos and here I just boosted it too much in iphoto probably. Thank you again.

Nicely captured among the beautiful surroundings! It must have been hard to focus on this swallowtail with so much foliage and flora around it. Great bokeh effect above the swallowtail.

Hi Ruthie ... beautiful scene, but overly sharpened in my opinion. I used to be guilty of the same. What we see on our monitors is not always what is seen when posted, so it is better to err on the minus side. If you still have your original image (and I hope you do), try playing with it and comparing the results.

Just keep shooting and posting, read comments on others' photos, and learn by doing. ♥

@Judy aka L@dybug: Thank you for your comment. I always use a duplicate of the original to mess around on. SO yes, I do have the original. I appreciate the suggestion. As I said, I am trying to learn and everyone's comments really help.

Very nicely composed. I never seem to have luck with butterflies. They always flutter away before the shutter opens.
