You are getting some very vibrant colour into these shots, are you using something like Topaz to achieve this?

5 Aug 2012 11:51am

@Curly: I do not even know what Topaz is. I use my camera and iphoto. I am new at this processing and accept any suggestions as to what is easiest to get started with.

Great catch Ruthie, glad you managed a shot of this guy. Nice going.
Just wondering... do you happen to have the HDR setting turned on in your NEX? There's an affect of some type here (similar to PS line-edging) that has a surreal look to it. Of course, that may be what you want.
Keep it up, you're doing great.

5 Aug 2012 2:02pm

@dang: ALthough my camera does have an HDR setting, i did not use it for these images. HDR takes three images that have to be aligned and iphoto does not do that. This is just boosted with iphoto. I got a couple of suggestions for apps that are free but I also need them to be easy to use as I am a beginner at processing. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Ruthie... maybe I misunderstood when I read up on the Sony NEX cams, but I was thinking it combined the shots in-camera. Anyway, let me know what OS your computer has and I'll be glad to send you links to some free programs too. There's really a lot of different ones now, and some are pretty simple. And again, I'm not saying this is bad, just a different look... and I don't think it's your processing but is in the camera. As I said before, the depth of field is really sharp compared to most sensors even though it's the same size as my Canon DSLR's. And even though P&S cams have a lot smaller sensor, the look this has is still very different, that's why I asked if you'd checked the setting. Thanks, and keep it up.

5 Aug 2012 8:48pm

@dang: My SONY is really more than just a P&S camera. I use Lion OS on my MACs. I wanted to upgrade to Mountain Lion, but my machines are not new enough. Guess I'll have to start a fund for a new one as well as my fund for lenses for my camera. Thanks for your help.
