Rock Pile

At most of our hikes along rocky shores in Maine, we saw piles of rocks, similar to this.

When we go hiking in the west these are often used to mark a trail that is over a rocky area or a trail above the tree line. In that case they are called rock cairns. I think some people make them for fun as an art form too. Cool shot.
